All Praises Due To President Obama For Nomination Of Judge Sonia Sotomayor

By Dr. E. Faye Willams and Stephanie E. Myers and Co-Chairs, Black Women for Obama for Change

Judge Sonia Sotomayor is an outstanding choice for the Supreme Court. On behalf of Black Women for Obama for Change we proudly endorse President Barack Obama's nomination and continue to appreciate his outstanding leadership. We urge the U.S. Senate to confirm Judge Sotomayor as soon as possible--without drama and acrimony. Her unique qualifications will bring diversity to the Supreme Court and fill in the void created by the silent voice of Justice Clarence Thomas.

Judge Sotomayor's experience is outstanding. Her incredible personal and professional story includes modest beginnings, a great Phi Beta Kappa college career and three decades in nearly every aspect of the law. She has been a prosecutor, litigator, and trial and appellate judge.

Our Co-Chair E. Faye Williams was present at the White House last week when President Obama nominated Judge Sotomayor. Dr. Williams comments, "President Obama noted that Judge Sotomayor brings more federal judicial experience to the Supreme Court than any Justice has ever had. Every woman—whether Black, White, Hispanic, Native or Asian—should be proud of Judge Sotomayor's record."

Kudos to our networker Paula Mateo, BWFO4Change/Florida, who wrote an Op-Ed in support of Judge Sotomayor weeks ago. Paula's op-ed can be seen under "Commentaries" Yes We Can!javascript:void(0)
