Job Description: Full-Time Executive Director

Horizons Hampton Roads is in search of a Full-time Executive Director. The Executive Director is responsible for implementing the mission, goals, and values of Horizons within the community. The ideal candidate will have had proven success in identifying and cultivating strong donor relationships. The Executive Director will be responsible for implementing initiatives to solicit individual, school, community prospects and donors for major gifts, ensuring a strong base of ongoing financial support for Horizons Hampton Roads. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to; providing leadership and support to staff in a collaborative, team-oriented environment; grant research and writing; working with the board to establish and enhance public awareness and strategic plan. The Executive Director will work with the Board Treasurer/Finance Committee to coordinate the development of the annual budget and manages the agencies resources within the budget. The Executive Director will work with the Treasurer to provide the Board with ongoing financial reports. The Executive Director will work with the Development Committee to ensure that a diversified fundraising program provides adequate funds to carry out the mission of Horizons. The Executive Director will work with program staff to ensure that the program results are achieved and procedures are in place to review and expand programs. The Executive Director works with the Chairman of the Board as a spokesperson for Horizons. They also works with the Board of Directors to ensure the goals and objectives of the organization are achieved.

Requirements:
Interested candidates must possess a BS/BA or an equivalent combination of education and work experience, 5+ years of organizational or corporate managerial/leadership experience, Non-profit fund development with public relations and financial background preferred, and a proven ability to mentor and provide leadership. Major Gift experience preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Advanced knowledge of fund development and donor recruitment. Advanced knowledge of budgeting and fiscal management. Excellent interpersonal skills including facilitation and problem solving abilities. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and donor management software. Requires the ability to work from a home office, travel and some weekend and evening work.
